Complete the discussion of how and
why you used CSTs with screen grabs from footage.
In this Commentary I am going to explain on the Camera Shot Technique with screen grabs from footage and why is it important and how we can used them in films or in this case my webisode. Also i am going to be explain what each Camera Shot Techniques.
We began filming with a Master shot in order to film
everyone in the short and captured an intense scenes with different angles in
one shot to the beginning till the end, also Master shot can be long short. For
example if there is a dramatic scene between two people or more the will film
the short with different angle such as close up (zoom in), over the shoulder
shot, mid close up. In single Camera
Production this is important because Master short shows the relationship
between the talents and shows the tension that is building up by this it makes
more interesting to watch, which also creates mystery and suspense. In my webisode I used Master shot this is
when I was filming the two characters in the house when the action is about to
start.

We followed the 180 degree rule in order
to captured two people having a conversation. When filming a 180 degree rule the
two talent having that conversation must be based on the line of action, this
way you captured all the shots in 180 degree circle. Also in 180 degree there
is a establishing shot which is one actor will face another camera and the
other actor will face another camera this is because in Single Camera
Production the actor will look like the looking at each other, however if the
180 degree rule is broking the actors will look strange and not seem to be
looking at each other. However I did not used the 180 degree rule because I had
single camera whereas multi- camera can do the 180 degree rule because we can
used more one camera.

Because we were shooting each individually, we grouped all
the close up on the characters face to show emotional and face expression and
shot all of them together. Because we are shooting each individually we are
able to compose each shot using the rule of third which is three people in the
shot. This allowed us to use depth of field to create pull focus to focus on
that one character or object to show that is important. In my webisode I used a
close on the character phone to create mystery.
During the conversation scene we used shot reverse shot to
show the conversation between the two characters so we can see the character
talking to each other. Shot reverse shot is to do with 180 degree rule. This is
when camera is place in the middle of the two people having conversation and
two camera a few distance place beside the character. In my webisode I did not use shot reverse
because I only had one camera.
We used a high/low angle on a character to show whether they
are either inferior or superior to the other person for example the bad guy
will come across as more important than the person or has most powerful in this case so they place the
camera in high angle. However if the camera is place in low angle it shows that
that person is powerless and has no strength. Because we are shooting with one
camera we had to set up these shots individually. This makes our webisode more time
than if we used multiple cameras. For example I used high angle in webisode to
show that the actor was weak and powerless at the time when she was opening the
door.
During the shot of scene we used movement panning which is
when you move the camera horizontally but you’re not moving the position camera
but you’re moving the face left to right slowly. Often panning is used for
locations to get the overview. Another camera movement is tilt this when you
not moving the position of the camera up or down but you moving the face this
camera movement is use of tripod. The tilt is use on the character to show if
they are powerless or move important. In my webisode I use tilt to show that
the character is weak and powerless. Tracking is when the camera is tracking
the action from fairly amount of distances. To express camera movement this is
makes the audience feel more interesting because by different camera movement
it creates more suspense and would give the plot away.
To involve the audience and create a sense of realism we used in my webisode different angle shot shot such as, over shoulder shot, day to day dialogue. I tried to use different camera angle shot in my webisode to make our webisode more realistic and to make sure how we see movement usually and then use that in our webisode not making it different how we view thriller as humans. By this it will make more interesting and creates mystery.
We decided to use natural lighting in my webisode to create a softer environment and to show the character is normal person and also we did have that certain equipment with us on set. Lighting is really important as gives clear effect on the character. For example you would use lighting when you are filming in the pitch black, by using lighting you can capture every movement in the shot. As we went in the editing suit we use the certain lighting such as shadow and colour to create more thriller effect and added a light colour tint to take with my group. Lighting problem that we face when filming.

We built our scene using a variety of coverage shorts for
example in my webisode we used an object which the actor phone as coverage shot
to create more suspense, his was in order to keep the audience more interesting.
By doing this we had to then edit the sequence of coverage shots together with
our Master Shot. We used cuts between shots to show the present and past and to
show flashbacks we shot because we used non-linear narrative to make my
webisode more stimulating to watch.

Overall as i was filming my webisode with single i learnt a lot for example make sure that film each shot with the correct lighting for instance, if i am filming in the dark i must use a studio lamp to captured every movement in the shot. Also i learnt that i can not use the 180 degree rule because i only have one camera. furthermore one of the thing that i can improve is to use more close up in my film and move coverage shot to make it more interesting.
