- done paperwork for pre production and production plan
- deadlines
- group communication
One of my strength is that I was able to make sure my team completed the paperwork which was due in order to complete the pre production and the production plan. As the producer it was one of my jobs to make sure that the paper work was completed in order to do the production stage which means that the shooting process.
Another strength is we had to make sure that we had good communication within our team in order to complete our project to near professional standards.
Furthermore,I had felt that I let my team back when my production schedule(gant chart) was wrong because me and maya had decided on dates that were not realised at all, we found out that we had to improve after our feedback in regards to our production plan.So I had to re-do with realist dates.
During this whole process, my roles were producer, editor and animator. My main role was to be the producer, this involves being for responsibility to make sure that everything is done and to maintain to hire or but camera equipment or props.
I have to able to make sure that the project is on schedule which means that I am basically in control of the all of the paper works, which was needed for pre production and the production plan. During the production stage, my role was to get all of the equipment and location booked out and to assist with the shooting production.
During the post production stage which is the editing process, we had decided to edit one each because we felt that it was good decision because it allowed us to develop some new skills, for example final cut pro and animation on photoshop.
Who edited what ident
crime scene- Shanee
Football- me
dance- Calvin
art- Maya
My role as an editor was to edit the football ident,I had learn a new skills which was how to create animation on photoshop. One of my weakness is that I felt that I was behind in the animation because it took me longer to do because it had to learn through the process which could have made my team fall behind. However, as we had filmed our idents early,we had more time to edit.
Once I had edited the animation onto the video,I had to give it to Calvin as he had to put the ctk logo(brand identify) and use the software colour splash which was used.

6C) Make critical
(strengths and weaknesses) comparisons of your own work with other example you
looked at in your research-individual part - Maya
Comparing to our work and other work I think we stand out from other as our theme is different and it appeals to a specific audiences. I think it at good standards for our age and for example the BBC ident 2016 is similar with the colours and Channel 4 with playful and lively. Also we looked at other work which is Dadics’s Group which was good as the working on same project it is different as they did stock motion. The strength of our work even though some groups use the same technique as us we still made it our own and different. Another strength we use colours as brand identity and made it consistence. By this I think we meet the brief. However, our weakness that we could have tried next time is use stock motion as it can be more playfully we also had limitation with music due to copyright. Another weakness is that we could change the logo front to suit the target audience.
My role is a director, camera operator and editor and there is new skills- that I gain you gain such as communicating skills as very important skill not only in the film industry. Communicating always applied in when working on project with other people and need to make sure your point get across clearly. Another skill that is important is organisation which is also important in the film industry as a director, camera operator and editor you need which to know what part/section you going to focus each day also you need to know what actors on set each day. For in this case it I need all this skills for this brief as I have to be responsible and more organised and communicate with my client and my team to make everything is produces at high standards.
My
contributions to project brief was explained an idea that our team thought it
would be a good to promote the school as a positive place that young people can
study at Christ the King. I also made my own mood board for my team to look at
and from there we done our pitch. For my theme and idea I chose lifestyle as I
the time spent at Christ the King it mostly lifestyle of CTK I experience such
as, art exhibition, sports torments, talent show, fun ways to learn. As a
director think I was professional and organise as I direct most of the ident as
a professional would do I made sure the actor were comfortable. I made sure we
was on task. However there some things I need to improve for example made sure
my team understand what they are doing as we wasted a week doing roto-scoping
and we end up doing animation instead.
Throughout the process we work well as a team as you can see in our ident it was effective as it was consistence. By working well as team was able to communicate better through some parts. when starting the project we had struggle with our idea as we was going to be colour printer, this is when the screen is black and white and turn into colour. This idea did not work so decided we was going to add roto-scoping and animation, by this the impact was very hard as it put us back on delivery on time as did not have enough time to roto scoping. Resulting to this we done animation as can see on my diary log 12/05/17- 24/05/17 we change it and was very successful as we brought everything alive. We took each ident and done animation with one object that display in our ident and sent to our official editor (Calvin) and he brush it up making sure everything was up to standards.
For example, my responsible was a director and assist editor for the Art ident. When starting editing my ident we decided that we was going to used roto scoping for our ident. As you can see in this screenshot i started to do this technique which took a long time which was time consuming as you have roto- scope each frame and has to be consistent. As you can see the Impact on this was very stressful as i wanted it to be perfect. However, we did not have enough time to rotco-scope the whole ident. I realise this when it took me a whole Day that i was roto-scoping and i only done 3 minutes of the ident. Due to this impact we had a meeting with our group discussing what was the best option we can take ( 12/05/17- diary log).
Here is an example, of our original idea we showed this to our client he through this idea was not that strong and we had to change the style of the ident. The impact of this as a group we had to come up with an new style to fit out theme and our brand identity. This was our one of biggest down falls as we wasted time and time schedule change due to this issue.
As you look to left you can see animation of my peacock that i animated over. We decided to go for live stock footage with animation as it makes it come alive, which we pitch to client. this process was quicker than roto-scoping. The impact by this was successful as it was lively and vibrant and it suit our theme. Here was one of the feedback we receive from the client, and as you can see that the client like it.
Explain the impact of professional and legal constraints upon your work (budget, time, level of skills, copyright, equality and diversity, health and safely?) (Shanee's section)
I feel like our project had various strengths and weaknesses when it came to professionalism, comparisons and overall skills. In terms of professionalism, I felt that we underwent the brief in a very professional manor. We meet regularly to discussed things such as progress and to split things up. When meeting with the client, we approached him in a very professional manor and met before hand in order to discuss this manor. I feel that the way in which we went about our discussions was very professional, however, there were various disagreements, which could have went about in a more professional way.

Explain the impact of professional and legal constraints upon your work (budget, time, level of skills, copyright, equality and diversity, health and safely?) (Shanee's section)
Both professional and legal constraints have had quite an effect
on my work. These constraints include budget, time, level of skills, copyright,
equality and diversity, health and safety.
Budget obviously played a major part when it came to our
production and lowered the overall standards of our product. For example, the
locations might have been more appropriate. Although our locations were quite
authentic, they weren’t at the standard, which they could have been, were we
able to book certain areas. One example of how this affected us was with the
art ident. As exams were coming up, we had problem booking the art room without
people in there and therefore had to settle with the photography room, which
didn’t look as authentic despite our efforts to change it. If we were able to
have a higher budget, we might have been able to book a quite space and/or made
it look at lot more like a real art space through the use of props. On top of
this, the equipment, such as the camera, could have been at a higher standard
if we were able to rent the one that we wanted. Finally, the talent might have
been able to be more experienced actors and therefore would have made the how
thing more believable.
Since we were shooting on site, the only problem with
copyright in terms of money was the use of music. We had to settle for copyright
free music, as we didn’t have enough money to be able to pay for copyrighted
music. If we were to have enough money, then we would have been less limited
when it came to this area of the production.
Equality and Diversity may have been slightly affected.
Although, we did our best to monitor our actors and made sure they were
diverse. We also needed to sure they were committed and good at acting.
Therefore, we were very limited. Maybe more money would have helped us pay for
talented actors from different diversities. However, this was a minor issue.
Finally, health and safety could have been slightly
affected. For example, we didn’t have enough money in order to prevent problems
surrounding health and safety properly but these problem were very minor and
therefore didn’t have much effect on the overall production.
Evaluate
(strengths and weaknesses) of your professionalism and organisation and skills)
their personal development justifying (Proving, convincing that you
have...explaining) how you have made a strong contribution to your role
requirements in producing the comparisons.
(Individual - Shanee's section )
I feel like our project had various strengths and weaknesses when it came to professionalism, comparisons and overall skills. In terms of professionalism, I felt that we underwent the brief in a very professional manor. We meet regularly to discussed things such as progress and to split things up. When meeting with the client, we approached him in a very professional manor and met before hand in order to discuss this manor. I feel that the way in which we went about our discussions was very professional, however, there were various disagreements, which could have went about in a more professional way.
Organization was also another thing that I felt went quite
well. As said before, we meet regularly to ensure that everyone was on track to
split up tasks. This allowed us to get everything done on time and to the best
possible standard. We set soft deadlines so to ensure that we never went across
the final deadline and made a detailed time scale to go by this deadline. One
thing that could have been improved when it came to organisation is the time we
allowed for editing. We made last minute changes when it came to the visual
style, which meant we were running behind on editing and as a result it took longer
than expected. Also, when it came to the pitch, we didn’t work in enough time
to practice. However, because of the detailed schedule and soft deadlines, this
meant we could still finish on time. Overall, I feel the organisation went well
but could have been improved.
Skills were another thing that could have been improved. Not
all of us had all of the necessary skills when we went on to do the project.
For example, most of us couldn’t do animation or wasn’t as good as others at
working the camera. We did work in a few sessions to learn this. However, I
felt that we could have done a lot more work on it, which would have improved
our project. In particular, I could have learned a lot more animation.
